On this journey...with wings

It’s been a while since I blogged. Honestly, it’s been a busy few months. I’m completing my work to become a certified Soul-Based Coach, I’m 250 pages into my memoir manuscript and I work a full time job! I feel like my plate is full….but at least everything on it is beautiful, delicious, nourishing and exactly as it should be!

I’m actually surprised the wave of insight and transformation that washed over me this past week. I announced at work that I am writing a book and working to become a Coach— information I normally wouldn’t share with my professional colleagues, but I just didn’t want to hide anymore. This initiated a series of changes for me: the completing of the third section of my manuscript, the redesign of my website, which includes the name (which I had no idea of until I completed my morning pages yesterday)— along with that came a plethora of ideas that I hope to put into practice in the coming months.

I want to check with you via my blog every week. I can’t say that writing a book is like training for a marathon or a triathlon or anything like that: I don’t feel as though it’s dramatic. Most of the time it’s me musing on ideas or images, writing them down, playing with them, restructuring and reordering them until they are both A) true and B) evocative of the experience itself. But there is something about doing what you are set on this earth to do, and storytelling, to me, is at the heart of my life journey. So, I’ve decided to write about it, and to offer little insights into the process, whether that be the importance of showing up, of creating a sacred space for yourself, of being kind to yourself and your words— or any number of insights that surface as I go through the book writing process.

I’m also going to continue building resources into this website that can inspire you. I know sometimes I have found my inspiration in the most unexpected places, and I want to curate some of those for you. One thing that I have missed in COVID-times are live readings. Years ago, I created a community-based reading series and as hard as it was to secure readers and audience members and even venues, I nonetheless would leave each event filled with the beautiful poetry, stories and works from others. So, I hope to start something similar here, but in an online space (at least for now.)

I will also be filling out my resource page with more practical tips for not only writing/creation, but also for healing and self-care. This year has taught me the importance of taking care of yourself. Since, I’ve incorporated morning pages, meditations and movement practices that foster the loving and secure grounding energy from the earth that works as such a wonderful compliment to the light and bubbly creative energy that flows through my fingertips and out through my crown chakra.

I can’t wait to curate all of this for you.

And to share some of my writing here, too, when it is ready.

Perhaps it was the snow moon last night which inspired all of these changes: that white and wide gentle night-light. Or perhaps this has been brewing for some time. I feel immense gratitude to have found the words “With Wings” and to have created this space for myself to create, and to share with you the lessons I learn here.

The feather imagery was what inspired me. For most of my life, I have been drawn to feathers, and I believe it is a power symbol for me. It is an object that represents strength, lightness, power, leadership, softness and most importantly, flight.

Flight as joy. Flight as transformation into what we always were, and what we know we can become. Soul-Based Coaching as taught me that each of us, in our own unique ways, can grasp our way of flying. Until we meet again next week, friends.

XOXO, R
